List of Data & Analytics Online Communities
One of the best ways to network and stay connected to the data & analytics community is via online communities on chat/messaging platforms like Slack and Discord. Here is a running list of communities — feel free to drop a comment with any others that should be included!
Also, in addition to the many online communities, there are many more local groups — check meetup.com to see what groups are meeting in your area for data, analytics, tech, etc. Many of them are meet in-person and/or virtually and also have Slack communities of their own.

Locally Optimistic — Slack community with over 7,000 members.
Data Talks Club — Slack community with over 47,000 members.
Data Science Salon — This group does virtual and in-person events and has a Slack community with 3,000 members.
Data Science Network — Slack community with over 3,000 members.
Open Data Science Conference — Annual conference held in multiple locations with a Slack community of 4,000 members.
Data Quality Camp — Slack community with over 9,000 members.
Aspiring Data Analysts
Aspiring Data Analysts — Discord community of 800 aspiring Data Analysts, created by Annie who is sharing her journey to start a career in Data Analytics.
Break Into Data — Discord community with over 800 folks aimed at providing opportunities to do collaborative projects.
Data Storyteller Discord — yes this is my community! It’s aimed at folks trying to break in or early in their careers although anyone is welcome to join.
Niche Data & Analytics Communities
Data Visualization Society — This group does an annual conference and has a Slack community with over 16,000 members.
Academic Data Science Alliance (ADSA) — They host events and have a Slack community with 1,000 members.
Data Umbrella — Community to welcome underrepresented folks to the fields of DS/ML/AI with a Discord community with over 400 members.
Software/Programming Language Communities
dbt — Slack community with over 57,000 members, most conversations are centered around analytics engineering and using the dbt platform.
R for Data Science — Online learning community with a Slack community with over 17,000 members.
PySlackers — Slack community with over 40,000 members
Women in Data Communities
Women in Data Science (WiDS) — Annual conference for women in data. Their Slack community is only for ambassadors, however, there are often satellite events in many cities to coincide with the annual conference.
Data Angels — Slack community with over 1,600 women working in data or interested in a career in data.
PyLadies — Global community with local chapters and a Slack community with over 10,000 members.
R-Ladies — Global community with local chapters and a Slack community with almost 4,000 members.
Women in Machine Learning & Data Science (WiMLDS) — Global community with local chapters and a Slack community with over 2,000 members.
